The 2014 IRTS AGM hosted By The GALWAY VHF GROUP

March 22nd & 23rd 2014

The IRTS AGM and Rally will take place in the GALWAY BAY HOTEL on Sunday 23rd of March 2014 hosted by the Galway VHF Group.

Tickets for the IRTS Dinner, which cost 35 Euro, may be obtained from any committee member of the IRTS or from Steve EI5DD (0872451218). A special rate for accommodation is available from the Galway Bay Hotel if you mention the IRTS AGM Weekend when booking on 091 520520.

More information will follow as the AGM weekend draws closer.


IRTS 80m Counties Contest

The IRTS 80m Counties Contest takes place January 1st 2014, From 14:00 to 17:00 UTC. The deadline for the submission of logs is January 15th 2014. Full contest details are available on irts.ie


Phoenix Amateur Radio Annual Rally

Phoenix Amateur Radio Club are pleased to announce that the annual Coolmine Radio Rally in Coolmine Community School, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 will take place on Sunday February 16th 2014. Doors open at 11am and admission is €5.00. For table bookings please contact Tony on 087 2439997.


EI6IJ Fund in support of Affiliated Clubs

The IRTS Committee will consider the awarding of a number of grants to Affiliated Clubs. These grants will primarily be funded by a kind donation of the late John O’Riordan EI6IJ. The grants will be of around €300 and usually not exceeding a total of €1000 in any one year. These grants will assist with the holding of public special event stations by clubs affiliated to IRTS. The stations should have significant public exposure with the specific intention of demonstrating Amateur Radio to members of the public. The funds may be allocated in one or more grants, or not at all, depending on the nature of applications received.

Limerick – Radio Theory Classes

Radio theory classes in preparation for the next Amateur Station License will begin in January 2014. The classes will be held in Limerick City, and anyone from Region 4, which comprises Clare, Kerry, Limerick & Tipperary, are welcome to attend. Spain Gets Experimental Permission for 5MHz

Following steps taken by URE, the Spanish national amateur radio society, SETSI, their regulator, has issued a resolution authorizing use of the following 5 MHz frequencies during the first half of 2014 (Jan - July)

5268, 5295, 5313, 5382, 5430 and 5439 kHz.

3 kHz bandwidth, Power Limit 100W, CW/SSB [USB]
